If we told you we were walking 60 miles to help people with breast cancer, would you join us?
In 2002, four friends -- Jo Edmunds, Tina Flaherty, Sarah Mitchell, and Noreen Beck -- committed to making a difference in the movement to fight breast cancer began a special venture together. After some serious discussions on how to improve on the original "Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day", the "Just 'CauseBreast Cancer 3-Day" was born. Unlike similar walks, 100% of the money goes to support breast cancer research and integrated therapies. The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden and The Gillette Center for Women's Cancers are our recipients.
As you may know, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Both its cause and its cure remain undiscovered. Statistics show that 1 in 7 women in the New England area will get breast cancer. We started the Just 'Cause Walk because we wanted to do something big -something that would challenge us. Walking 20 miles a day for 3 days is our challenge and we are hoping that you will partner with us in this effort.
On May 31, June 1 and June 2 2013, a dedicated group of people will walk in the 11th Just 'Cause Breast Cancer Walk. We hope that you will join us either as a walker or as a donor.
With tremendous support from family, friends, the community, and our corporate sponsors, the Just CauseBreast Walks will bring us even closer to a cure. Please watch a brief, inspiring interview with our Just 'Cause Walk founders.
Take Care and be well,
Jo Edmunds, Susan Taeuber, Tina Flaherty and Debbie Kirkland - 2013 Coordinators
